Why isn't my status being updated?

  • Make sure that the Network is enabled within the app.  (Settings -> Automatic Status Updates -> Networks -> Network_NAME).  This must be done on each device.  There is no way to enable the Network for other users without doing it on the device.
  • WIFI must be enabled.
  • Location Services must be enabled.
  • Simple In/Out must have permission to use your location "Always"
  • The device must have Mobile Data and Simple In/Out access to Mobile Data.
  • Make sure that the Network SSID is entered correctly within the app. You can verify that the Network SSID is correct by viewing the Network screen. It should say "You are connected to this Network".

Why is my status being updated repeatedly?

Every few minutes, the app will check the currently connected WIFI network of the device. If the connected WIFI network has changed from the previous time it checked, the user's status will be updated.

If your status is being updated repeatedly, this means that your device must be repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting to the WIFI network.

  • Make sure there is a strong, consistent WIFI signal at your location. If you are on the "edge" of the WIFI signal, your device will constantly disconnect and reconnect which will lead to your status being updated.

    You may need to add additional WIFI access points or WIFI extenders to your office in order to have full coverage.

  • Make sure that the device isn't connecting to other nearby WIFI networks. Maybe there is a coffee shop nearby that the device is periodically connecting to. Maybe your office has an additional "Guest" or "5G" network that the device is configured to automatically connect to.
  • Be mindful of wireless interference.  If your WIFI equipment or device are nearby other wireless devices, this can impact the WIFI signal strength.

Why is the status update delayed?

The device itself isn't constantly scanning for WIFI networks. It may take several minutes after you enter the office before your device actually connects to the WIFI network. Then, it may be several minutes before our app performs a check for the current WIFI connection.

On average, you should be checked in ~5 minutes after entering the office. However, you may get "unlucky" with the timing which can lead to the update being up to 10 minutes after entering the office. A delayed update like this should be considered an anomaly that you won't see often.

If you are noticing this problem consistently or if the delay is over 10 minutes, make sure that your device has a strong, consistent connection to the WIFI network. It is possible that your device is disconnecting from the WIFI network shortly after entering the office (possibly hitting a dead zone) and our app checks your WIFI status while you are disconnected. This leads to your status update being further delayed until the next check.
