Do you recommend a particular device for Simple In/Out TV?

There are three important factors when it comes to picking which device you want to purchase...

1). Compatibility

This one can be confusing.

Our app is made for Android TV OS.  There are many devices on Amazon meant to be used on a TV that run regular Android OS and not Android TV OS.

We used to recommend Amazon Fire TV devices but we no longer recommend these devices as of late 2025.  Amazon Fire TV devices historically operated with "Fire OS" which was compatible with our app.  However, newer Fire TV devices now operate with "Vega OS" which is not compatible with our app.  If you have a Fire TV device or are interested in a Fire TV device, just make absolutely certain that it is running Fire OS and not Vega OS.

2). Price

When Android TV first launched, there weren't a lot of options available.  It was hard to find something affordable.  This is no longer the case and there are plenty of affordable options.  You shouldn't need to spend more than $30 (USD).

3). OS Version

The Android TV app currently supports Android 8.0 and higher.  As time moves on, we occasionally drop support for older versions of the OS.  You should avoid buying a device that may soon be obsolete.

With all of this in mind, our recommendation is a device made by "onn."

These are very affordable devices that check all of our boxes.
