How do Beacons Work?
** Note: Beacons can only be broadcast using FrontDesk for iPad using an iPad 3 or later.
Beacons are low energy Bluetooth Geofences. FrontDesk allows you to create a Beacon using software and the Bluetooth radio.
To create a new Beacon, tap on the + button at the top right of the Beacons page (Settings -> Beacons)
Give the Beacon a name and choose your status options. Notify on Entry/Exit allow you to control whether users only check in or out (or both) to the Beacon. If you aren't sure what you want, just leave them both on.
Press the Save button to add the Beacon.
Once you have a Beacon in the list, you can tap the switch to turn it on. Once it is on, it can be seen by other apps (mobile apps). The Beacon can be turned on in the mobile apps and will able to check in or out to it. The Beacon will not broadcast if the app goes into the background (if you close the app or switch to another app).
To edit a Beacon, tap on it and make any needed changes. Just press the Save button to commit and update the changes.
To delete a Beacon, you can slide the Beacon to the left, then tap on the Delete button. If using Android, just long press the Beacon and choose delete.
